Najin and Fatu are the last two northern white rhinos on Earth. The mother and daughter live under constant surveillance at the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya. After years of failed breeding attempts and the heartbreaking loss of the last male, Sudan, in 2018, the species has been declared "functionally extinct.”

As the first light of the morning touched the land, we watched as Najin and Fatu grazed peacefully, their every move observed by the devoted humans who care for them. The dance of light and shadows seemed to reflect the delicate balance of life in the wild and the deep, unspoken bond between the rhinos and their guardians.

Through these images, we invite you to witness their world, an extraordinary moment in time, while we still can.
