The Equality Effect
The Equality Effect is an international network of human rights advocates that brings together grassroots community members, artists, musicians, filmmakers, healthcare workers, journalists, lawyers, teachers, students, judges, and parliamentarians. United by a common goal, this collaborative effort uses the power of human rights laws to transform the lives of women and girls, ensuring their safety from sexual violence, access to education, and the opportunity to achieve economic independence.
The 160 Girls Virtual Justice Clubs are youth-led groups that use creative and digital tools to educate communities about human rights and gender equality. Through original videos, podcasts, arts, poetry, and music, these clubs raise awareness about the rights of girls and the laws that protect them. As part of the initiative, club members also contribute to the 160 Girls Community Justice Journal, a grassroots publication that shares information, stories and advocacy messages. The youth not only create content, but also take part in distributing the journal to their communities.
Through the Virtual Justice Clubs, youth are supported to become leaders and champions for equality, engaging their communities in conversations about justice and gender-based violence, and helping to prevent defilement through increased awareness and accountability.
